  as we enter into a new decade, it might make sense to look back to view the progress than mankind has made in these last days.. about 200 years ago everyone on the planet lived on the modern day equivalent of about $400 a year.

  the exceptions were tiny nobilities.

  The UN report, 2008 State of the Future, predicts that world population will drop to a level lower than today's by 2100. ...lot's of variables...only time will tell.

  US publisher report for last year - "official" numbers from Society letter

  didn't see this posted anywhere, my apologies if this is a repeat..... in a letter to all congregations dated 12/9/09, the society wrote out some highlights of the previous service year.

  the letter is to be read to the congregation "at the first service meeting after its receipt".. here are the numbers they report (all numbers are for us only):.

  -- average publishers - 1,096,502. this is about a 4% increase (3.5% if you don't round) over the prior year's average of 1,059,253.. -- that "4% increase" in average publishers is the largest since 1992.

  I especially liked the opening sentence of the last paragraph: "The passage of the past year has brought us one year closer to Armageddon..."

  The passage of 2009 years since Jesus' death and promise to return has brought us one year closer to Armageddon.

  I copied this from the rough draft of a personal statement I wrote; you tell me how I sound. :)

  made the decision to break with my church. This decision led to my rebirth as a person, but it carried extreme consequences. I am now viewed as an apostate by people whom I counted as dear friends, and since my former religion aggressively practices shunning, those friends refuse even to acknowledge me when we meet by chance in local stores. However, I do not regret my decision, and I learned an incredibly valuable life lesson: regardless of the consequences, o ne should never reject an opportunity to examine and modify—or even discard—one’s deeply-held, personal beliefs.

  I eagerly pursued my new life and the freedom to achieve academically by enrolling at the University of ******** with the long-term goal of attending law school. Eventually, I took a full class load in addition to working full-time. Such a demanding schedule requires impeccable time management skills, focus and determination. My interest in religion motivated me to explore beyond Christianity. After a class on Islam, I joined the Muslim Student Association. Freely associating and exchanging ideas with individuals from a variety of ages, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and ethnicities is one of my greatest academic delights. Freed from my own religious blinders, it is so refreshing to view people as incredibly promising rather than worthy of destruction. ***transitional sentence.

  it's a scan (you can thank iloowy for the scan) of the march 15, 2010 watchtower where there's a picture of a radiant sun of a wt logo along with a tm mark right next to a paragraph that says 'they "will shine as brightly as the sun"' (matthew 13:43).. .

  Jesus himself explains the parable.

  	Mat 13:39		The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
  	Mat 13:40		As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
  	Mat 13:41		The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
  	Mat 13:42		And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
  	Mat 13:43		Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

  The harvest is Armageddon; the weeds don't just get old and die, because Armageddon never arrived. The reapers are ANGELS, not a bunch of people running around knocking on doors. That's why this article had to bounce back and forth between Matthew, Daniel, and Malachi trying to piece together their interpretation.

  as some may remember, i posted about being dubious as to accepting anniversary presents this year from my super-dub family, esp.

  my older sister.. well we agreed with the consensus on here that it was best to accept with gratitude and this we have done, but i would just like to reproduce what she wrote in the card accompanying the present and flowers.. after the happy anniversary she wrote :.

  "it makes us sad to think of all the anniversaries past when you were part of our christian congregation.

  another way of saying this would be...stop thinking and listen to us.

  this is something that i am having a really tough time with and have spoken to the elders about several times.

  it would seem to make sense that i would be able to get reasonable answers to some questions, and if not they could at least be honest and say "i don't know".

  Miss Bitches are the sulkers, pouters and ball-busters of the female world. They are very unpleasant people who treat their fellow humans poorly, care only about themselves, and aren't concerned at all if they hurt you or anybody else. Most Miss Bitches qualify as Miss Takes, too. Miss Bitches are usually good-looking and well dressed, and you can easily identify them by the scowls on their faces as they imperiously strut through the world.

  I am a "Miss Bitch." Though, I would say the description is lacking; it should include the following: they do not care what you think of them. :)

  Interestingly, when this personality is manifested in a man, it is described as follows:

  Mr. Executive.

  They are excellent at hiding their thoughts, plans and strategies behind a sulking, impervious outward demeanor. Often times, what is simply executive decision-making is misinterpreted as disdain for fellow humans or selfishness. Their outward appearance is impecable, very Gentlemen's Quarterly (GQ) as their high position in society and business demands. Often times, their facial expressions are very intent as a result of the incredible number of different business deadlines, ideas, contracts, strategies, etc., they are balancing at one time. One of their most admirable physical characteristics is their commanding walk.
